ルイジアナ州農林当局 The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry (LDAF) が，州内で初めてイヌの SARS-CoV-2 ウイルス陽性が報告されたと明らかにした。SARS-CoV-2 はヒトの COVID-19 の原因ウイルスであり，the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) は現在，動物にも感染の可能性があるとしている，と獣医当局者が説明した。米政府当局 the United State Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA-APHIS) は，ウイルス感染拡大にペットが関与する証拠はなく，ヒトへの感染リスクは低い，としている。現時点で一律的な動物の検査は推奨しない，と説明されている。the CDC によると，ペットは感染しても多くの場合発症しないが，軽い呼吸器や消化器の症状を示す可能性はある。米国を含む複数の国々で，少数ながらイヌやネコの感染が報告されている。

ネコの SARS-CoV-2 susceptibility and transmission studies に関する最近の研究で，動物の体内でウイルスが複製され，他のネコに感染伝播する可能性が示された。生後 4～5か月の 6匹のネコに，SARS-CoV-2 を経鼻／経口の経路に同時に接種した。接種の 1日後，これらのウイルスを接種されたネコの中に，2匹の sentinel contact cats を加えた。4，7，および 21日間の観察期間の後に死後剖検を行ったところ，血液中ではウイルス RNA は確認されなかったが，一時的に鼻腔，口咽頭，直腸スワブ，ならびに気管肺胞洗浄液中など，さまざまな組織で確認された。また，感染したネコの気道の，粘膜下リンパ節の気管気管支リンパ節炎部位で，ウイルス RNA および抗原が確認された。principal and sentinel cats のいずれにおいても，接種から 7および 10日目に，血清検査で特異中和抗体 SARS-CoV-2-specific and neutralizing antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 が発現した。すべての動物が，観察期間中無症候性のままで，混在させてから 2日以内に sentinels に SARS-CoV-2 ウイルスを感染させた。

肇慶 Zhaoqing 市の男性 1名が，ダニ刺咬後に発熱，悪寒，と両下肢の筋力低下を発症したが，ツツガムシ病 scrub typhus の診断が確定するまで，脳卒中と診断されていた。7月中旬，生来健康であったこの 67歳男性は，悪寒があるとして近医から薬剤を処方されていたが改善せず，3－4日後の 7月17日に歩けないほど下肢の筋力が低下した。脳 CT 検査で右前頭葉と基底核にラクナ梗塞があり，低カリウム血症も指摘された。カリウム補充で下肢筋力低下は改善したが，発熱と悪寒が再発し，カリウムとナトリウムの低下を伴っていた。3－4年前に脳梗塞の既往があることから，同 18日に広州の大きな病院に転院することになった。Guangdong Sanjiu Brain Hospital では，脳の病変は陳旧性のもので，現疾患の原因ではないと判断され，詳細な診察の結果，右下腿の黒色痂皮 a black scab が発見された ...
