Duhok governorate で2例の出血熱 cases of hemorrhagic fever が確認され，うち1例が死亡したと，感染症の責任者 the head of communicable diseases in the governorate が述べた。the head of communicable diseases in Duhok が18日に病院 Azadi Hospital in Duhok において2例 suspected cases of hemorrhagic fever が確認されたと明らかにした。"1例は48歳男性で，Nanakali Hospital in Erbil on 19 May 2024 に搬送後死亡した。もう1例は Akre district の女性で，治療後退院となった"。

New _Salmonella_ outbreak has sickened 100

UK reports 90 sick in _Salmonella_ outbreak linked to melon
2023年末までに，カンタロープメロン cantaloupe melon が関係するサルモネラ感染症アウトブレイク a _Salmonella_ outbreak でおよそ100人が感染したと明らかにされている。2023年9月に英国保健保護局 the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) により cases of _Salmonella_ Saintpaul in England, Scotland, and Wales における感染例が確認された。英国からの注意喚起を受け，ポルトガルでも患者が確認された。93 in the UK and 5 in Portugal の98人の患者が確認され，およそ半数が10歳未満の患者だったと the Epidemiology and Infection journal study で示されている。英国の症例に関する情報が，10月後半に欧州 via the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control's (ECDC) EpiPulse system で共有された結果，デンマークで2例が確認されたと ECDC が明らかにした。_Salmonella_ Saintpaul infections はこのほかの国でも確認されているものの，微生物学的もしくは疫学的にアウトブレイクとの関連づけられなかった。イングランド England の患者がもっとも多かったが，Scotland had 10 and Wales 5, with sample receipt dates from 28 Sep to 30 Nov 2023 であった。年齢の中央値は20歳で，10歳から89歳に及び，28%が5歳未満，43%が10歳未満，2/3が女性だった。ポルトガルの症例は2歳から8歳までの年齢で，80%が女性だった。
25例の英国の症例の調査で，52%にあたる13例がメロンの摂取を報告しており，コントロールの100例でメロンの摂取を報告したのは24%だった。微生物学的検査のためのメロンの検体は入手できなかった。

ミシガン州の酪農業従業員 A Michigan dairy worker が鳥インフルエンザ bird flu に感染し、米国内のウシにおけるアウトブレイク an outbreak in US dairy cows に関係する2例目のヒトの感染例 the second human case となった。この男性従業員は、感染動物がいた農場においてウシとの接触があった。軽い眼の症状があったが回復したと、US and Michigan health officials が22日明らかにした。
患者の鼻腔スワブの検査では陰性だったが、眼のスワブ検体で21日に鳥インフルエンザが陽性となり、眼感染症が示唆されると、US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) officials が述べている。
この従業員は5月はじめに眼の a "gritty feeling（ざらざら感）" を感じていたが、軽微な症状であったと説明されている。治療薬の oseltamivir は使用されなかった。...
今回の新たな症例は、米国内で type A H5N1 ウイルスの3例目の事例である。2022年に（矯正）作業プログラムとして，養鶏場 a poultry farm in Montrose County, Colorado において感染したトリの処分を行っていた際に，感染した受刑者の唯一の症状は疲労感だった。

オーストラリアで初めてとなる、ヒトの高病原性鳥インフルエンザ感染例 The first human case of A(H5N1) highly pathogenic avian influenza (bird flu) が報告された。最近インドから帰国した小児1名で、インド滞在中に体調を崩し、3月にオーストラリアに帰国後すぐに入院となった。入院時に PCR 検査でインフルエンザ Influenza A が確認され、重症下気道感染と呼吸不全による低酸素血症のための長期間の ICU 滞在中に oseltamivir 治療が行われた。その後退院し完治している。
ウイルス遺伝子解析 Genome sequencing conducted at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia) により、このウイルスが A(H5N1) with a multibasic cleavage site, confirming highly pathogenic avian influenza と確認された。
Blast analysis of the hemagglutinin (HA) sequence revealed the closest sequence match to be an A/duck/Bangladesh/46162/2020 with 98% homology. The HA clade has been identified as 2.3.2.1a, a clade which has previously been detected in Southeast Asia and is distinct from the HA 2.3.4.4b clade currently circulating in birds and dairy cows globally.
Blast analysis of the neuraminidase (NA) sequence revealed the closest sequence match to be an A/chicken/Bangladesh/18-B-569/2022 with 98% homology. Sequence analysis of the N1 gene indicated sensitivity to oseltamivir（オセルタミビル感受性あり）.
今回のオーストラリアの感染例と同じウイルスの感染例 human cases of A(H5N1) from the same HA clade が2例報告されており、one in Nepal（ネパール）in 2019 and one in India（インド）in 2021 だった。
今回の患児の両親への聞き取りでは、小児に鳥類、動物、病人との接触はなく、感染経路は明らかにできなかった。加熱不十分の家きんや肉の摂取も確認できなかった...

24時間のあいだに80例のコレラ感染 cases of cholera が登録されたと、地域保健当局の疫学調査責任者 The director of the Epidemiological Surveillance Department, Ministry of Health, Aden governorate が明らかにした。アウトブレイクの開始以降の1日あたりの患者数として最多となった。
He also mentioned that the number of registered cholera cases in the governorate has reached 1300 cases, with 9 deaths since the beginning of this year (2024)

まれなケースではあるが，コネチカット州のクマ 1頭 a rare case, a black bear in Connecticut が狂犬病 rabies 検査で陽性となった。このクマは，Canton, Connecticut, in February 2023 で発見された野生のメスのクマで，他のクマと同様，冬眠していたと考えられる。しかしこのクマは身体の一部に問題 mobility issues on the left side of its body があり，横たわったままでヒトが近づいても反応がなかったと，the journal Microbiology Resource Announcements で報告されている。保護観察担当者が24時間見守っていたが安楽死処分された。死後剖検のため，the Connecticut Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (CVMDL) at the University of Connecticut's College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources に送られ，the CVMDL において脳組織の遺伝子解析が行われ，狂犬病に感染していたことが判った。
This was only the second bear the lab had encountered with the virus.
