2024年1月以降，ケララ州 Ernakulam [district in Kerala state] において 130例以上の A型肝炎 confirmed hepatitis A cases が確認され，このほかにも440 suspected cases in the district が報告されていると，the Health department が明らかにした。特にアウトブレイク the outbreak in Vengoor panchayat [a village council in India] 発生後に感染が増加し，the affected wards in Vengoor では220例を超える患者に感染が疑われている。The first case は Kaippilly ward on 18 Apr [2024] から報告された。Vengoor alone だけで3例の死亡が確認されている。
Besides Vengoor, areas that reported hepatitis cases include Sreemoolanagaram, Mattancherry, Kalamassery, Nellikuzhi, Kothamangalam, Nedumbassery, Malayattoor, Payipra, Kizhakkambalam, and Avoli.

ハンタウイルス a hantavirus [infection] により the Ramón Carrillo Hospital in Bariloche 病院に13日間入院していた男性の，パートナー（の女性）もこの病気に感染していた。この女性は無症状で，ウイルス量は極めて少なく健康状態に問題はない。感染が確認されたことを受け，このパートナーは予防措置として入院した。女性も農場で農作業を行っていた。

Abstract
旋毛虫症 Trichinellosis は，寄生虫による人獣共通感染症で，_Trichinella_ spp. nematodes 感染のある動物の肉の摂取により感染する。北米において，ヒトの旋毛虫症 human trichinellosis はまれな疾患で，ほとんどが狩猟の野生動物の肉 wild game meat の摂取が原因である。
2022年7月，ミネソタ州保健当局 the Minnesota Department of Health から感染が疑われる患者が報告された。発症の1週間前に，45日間冷凍後に野菜とともに焼かれレアで提供されたクマ肉などの料理を，他の8人とともに食べていた。調査により6人の感染が確認され，このうち2人は野菜のみを食べていた。15週間以上冷凍状態だった残りのクマの肉で，可動性のある旋毛虫の幼虫 Motile _Trichinella_ larvae が確認された。分子学的検査により，冷凍に耐性を有する種 larvae from the bear meat as _Trichinella nativa_, a freeze-resistant species と確認された。
野生動物の肉を摂取する場合，旋毛虫を確実に死滅させる唯一の方法 the only reliable way to kill _Trichinella_ parasites は十分な加熱 adequate cooking であり，肉から他の食品に交差汚染 can cross-contaminate が起こりうることを銘記すべきである。

Trichinellosis が米国内で報告されることはまれである。感染伝播の温床であった養豚業における伝統的な環境が改善された結果，近年の報告例のほとんどが野生動物の肉の摂取によるものである。
During January 2016-December 2022 の期間に，7件のアウトブレイク American trichinellosis outbreaks, including 35 probable and confirmed cases が CDC に報告された; これらのアウトブレイクの大部分の感染源がクマ肉と特定または疑われている。
野生動物の推定感染率 Estimates of _Trichinella_ infection prevalence は様々で，カナダとアラスカのクマ among black bears の報告では，A _Trichinella_ infection prevalence range of at least 1% to 24% とされており，肉食のみの動物 strict carnivores (e.g., ホッキョクグマ polar bear, wolverine（クロアナグマ）, and cougar) で，より感染率が高い higher prevalences of _Trichinella_ infection とされている。
旋毛虫症の症状が非特異的であることが多いため，強く疑わなければ診断できない; ただし眼窩周囲の浮腫 periorbital edema や検査値異常 (e.g., 好酸球血症および CK 値上昇など) が手がかり etiologic clues となることがある。今回のアウトブレイクでは，入院した患者のうちの2名は診断がつくまで複数回の受診を行っていた。6例中4例は，臨床及び疫学的診断基準を満たしており probable cases と考えられる。抗体検査の感度が病初期に限定的であるため，検査による確定診断は困難である。今回の報告においても，急性期の IgG 抗体検査 acute _Trichinella_ IgG test results が陽性となったのは，検査が行われた6例中2例のみであった。確定診断の基準 Laboratory criteria in the current CSTE trichinellosis case definition に，核酸検査 nucleic acid testing of human specimens は含まれていない。血中の DNA を検出する検査の感度 The sensitivity of such assays to detect _Trichinella_ DNA in blood は確かめられていない uncharacterized; しかし, plasma samples from both patients tested by metagenomic sequencing (1) yielded positive results for _Trichinella_ DNA.
