昨年 [2023] 大腸菌感染流行 an _E. coli_ outbreak が発生した Fueling Brain Academy (FBA), the preschool and daycare company が，another case に対応している。West 85 location に通園していた1歳児が大腸菌検査で陽性となったと明らかにした。園内での感染，および感染拡大の証拠は確認されていないが，念のため自主的に休園し，清掃消毒作業を行うと述べられている。
In September 2023, 11 Fueling Brain Academy locations were shut down after an _E. coli_ outbreak, which originated in a Fueling Minds kitchen supplying the facilities with food. There were at least 446 cases, and of those, 39 children and one adult were hospitalized.

Streptococcal meningitis after eating pork offal（豚ホルモン）
ブタの内臓を食べた10日後に58歳男性が高熱，頭痛，めまい，聴力損失，皮下出血 purple-black hemorrhagic rash on his skin の症状を発症した。6月3日，Phu Tho General Hospital 病院によると，検査，血液培養，脳脊髄液培養の結果，この患者はブタ連鎖球菌による髄膜炎 meningitis caused by _Streptococcus suis_ infection であることがわかった。20日間以上の治療を受け，状態は安定している。医師らはこの患者が加熱が不十分なブタ肉または内臓を食べたこと，あるいは生肉に使った調理用具により感染したとみている。ブタ連鎖球菌による髄膜炎はきわめて危険な疾患で，深刻な合併症を伴い，その1つの聴力損失は多くみられる合併症で生活の質に大きな影響を与える。

"We identified 913 patients with _S. suis_ meningitis included in 24 studies between 1980 and 2015. 年齢の中央値は49歳で，581 of 711 patients が男性だった (82%)。ブタもしくは豚肉への曝露が 395 of 648 patients (61%) で認められたが，other predisposing factors は less common だった。514 of 528 patients に発熱 (97%), 429 of 451 に頭痛 (95%), 462 of 496 に項部硬直 (93%) and 78 of 384 patients (20%) に曝露時に皮膚の傷 a skin injury があった。致死率は 2.9% で聴力損失 hearing loss が後遺症として多くみられた a common sequela occurring in 259 of 489 patients (53%) 。
治療はデキサメサゾン dexamethasone in 157 of 300 (52%) of patients が使用され，聴力損失を減少させた reduced hearing loss in _S. suis_ meningitis patients included in a randomized controlled trial。
"_S. suis_ meningitis has a clear association with pig and pork contact. Mortality is low, but hearing loss occurs frequently. Dexamethasone was shown to reduce hearing loss" (1)]

小林製薬の「紅麹サプリ」問題で２２２１人が医療機関を受診し、４９２人が入院していたことがわかりました。
小林製薬の「紅麹」成分を含むサプリメントによる健康被害が疑われる問題で、厚生労働省は７月２日、２２２１人が医療機関を受診し、４９２人が入院したと明らかにしました。６月２６日時点で発表していた、通院患者１６５６人と入院患者２８９人を大きく上回る数字で、これまでは腎疾患の症状を訴える患者のみを発表していましたが、今回は死者の公表基準に合わせて腎疾患以外も含めた患者数を公表したということです。
小林製薬の「紅麹」の成分を含むサプリメントをめぐっては、摂取した後に死亡した人が新たに７６人明らかになっていて、小林製薬は６月２９日に医療機関からの情報収集など調査の進め方をまとめた計画を厚労省に提出しています。

Abstract
最近，紅麹 beni-koji (red yeast rice) を含む "foods with functional claims (FFC 機能表示食品)" と呼ばれる健康食品の摂取による，腎障害を含む健康被害が報告されている。the FFC の成分として想定されていないプベルル酸 puberulic acid が検出されたことも報告されている。
differential analysis を用いた the presence of unintended compounds in the FFC containing beni-koji using comprehensive instrumental analyses では，健康被害があった検体となかった検体で，予測されていなかった新種の成分 novel compounds 1 and 2 as unexpected components between the samples with and without adverse event reports が確認された。both compounds 1 and 2 は， puberulic acid が混入していたすべて検体で検出された。
Compounds 1 and 2, with molecular formulas of C23H34O7 and C28H42O8, respectively, may be lovastatin derivatives. Their structures were confirmed using NMR analyses and are novel natural compounds. For definitive confirmation, we are in the process of synthesizing compounds 1 and 2 from lovastatin.
The route of contamination of these compounds are currently under investigation. The findings of this study could be used to address the growing health hazards associated with health food products.

In week 24, the number of new confirmed cases increased from 4 in epi week 23, 2024, to 7 cases. These were reported in Ondo, Edo, Bauchi, and Benue states
- Cumulatively from week 1 to 24, 2024, 162 deaths have been reported with a case fatality rate (CFR) of 17.6%, which is higher than the CFR for the same period in 2023 (17.1%).
- In total for 2024, 28 states have recorded at least one confirmed case across 125 local government areas (Figures 2 and 3).
- Sixty-six percent (66%) of all confirmed Lassa fever cases were reported from 3 states (Ondo, Edo, and Bauchi) while 34% were reported from 25 states with confirmed Lassa fever cases. Of the 66% confirmed cases, Ondo reported 26%; Edo, 22%; and Bauchi, 18%.
- The predominant age group affected is 21-30 years (range: 1 to 98 years, median age: 32 years). The male-to-female ratio for confirmed cases is 1:1 (Figure 4).

Viet Nam's agriculture ministry calls on 4 provinces to impose tough measures against ASF
農業省 Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) が 4つの省 provinces, namely, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, and Hoa Binh にアフリカ豚熱対策の強化 rigorous measures against African swine fever (ASF) を強く促している。2024年に入り，すべての地区 all 8 districts in Bac Kan が同疾患による深刻な影響を受けており，全国の40%以上に当たる1万頭近いブタの処分が行われた。In Lang Son, ASF affects 10 districts, with almost 4000 pigs culled, or about 17% of the national figure. Quang Ninh has seen outbreaks in 23 communes, with nearly 1600 pigs culled. Hoa Binh has reported outbreaks in 18 communes, resulting in the culling of nearly 1300 pigs.
