The highest number of dengue cases have been reported in the Western Province, the most populous province in Sri Lanka. 16 021 cases have been reported in the province, accounting for 41.9% of the total cases.
The Northern Province reported 4744 cases, or 12.4% of the total.
昨年（2023年）は，a total of over 88 000 dengue cases were reported with a death toll of 57, according to the National Dengue Control Unit.

the orthobunyavirus Fort Sherman virus (FSV) は1985年に，パナマの訓練所 a jungle warfare training center in Panama で急性の発熱症状のあった米軍兵士から発見された。1965年と1982年にアルゼンチンの蚊族から2種類のウイルス FSV strains が分離されていた。ブラジルの健康なウマと，アルゼンチンの神経症状と流産のあったウマでウイルスが確認されている。ウマで確認されたウイルスに関する血清学的調査で，ブラジルの2.9%のヤギと22%のウマ，アルゼンチンの5.7%の住民の陽性結果が得られている。
2020年の北部沿岸地域 the city of Chiclayo in Lambayeque department on the northern coast of Peru の発熱患者の感染例について報告する。
患者は渡航歴のない61歳男性で，38℃の発熱がみられた。デング熱，フラビウイルス，アルファウイルスの検査 dengue virus (DENV)-specific real-time reverse transcription PCR (RT-PCR) and broadly reactive nested RT-PCRs targeting flaviviruses and alphaviruses は陰性だった。さらに対象範囲を広げて行った検査で，オルトブニヤウイルス検査陽性 a positive result for orthobunyaviruses using a broadly reactive RT-PCR (Appendix) の結果が得られ，sequencing of the screening PCR amplicon により FSV と診断した。
全遺伝子塩基配列 complete coding sequences of all 3 genome segments by amplifying overlapping genome fragments using nested RT-PCR, followed by Sanger sequencing を決定した。ウイルス分離は成功しなかった。
Lambayeque における感染拡大の範囲 the extent of FSV infection を調査する目的で，2020年に検査機関に提出された発熱患者の検体 all 582 available serum samples について，RT-PCR for orthobunyaviruses を行ったところ，デング熱は 70.4% (410/582) が陽性 tested positive for DENV であったが，FSV, other orthobunyaviruses, alphaviruses, or other flaviviruses 陽性例はなかった。
2000km 離れた場所で40年近い時を経て採取されたパナマのウイルスとペルーのウイルスの遺伝学的相同性は注目に値する。Nucleotide distances of the complete coding sequences compared with the prototypic FSV were 2.0% for large, 2.3% for medium (M), and 1.0% for small gene sequences. Translated amino acid sequence distances were low at all coding sequences, ranging from 0 to 1.5%, which is compatible with strong purifying selection acting on arthropodborne viruses, such as FSV.

Pune Sees Spike In Chikungunya Cases; 90 Reported This Month

Two people in Danilovgrad are infected with Q fever, the Institute for Public Health (IJZ) announced.

Traces of _Vibrio cholerae_ bacteria were found in 2 of 7 environmental water samples taken at randomly allocated checkpoints at Litani River's upstream basin, the Lebanese Litani River Authority (LRA) stated. The authority also mentioned that this is not the first time the cholera bacterium to be detected in these locations as they have previously warned against the drainage of untreated sewage wastewaters at these points.

Symptomatic contacts reported in probe into Missouri H5N1 flu case
