ベルギー Belgium では、2007年から the Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (FAVV-AFSCA) による、サシバエ属 _Culicoides spp._ の監視が続けられている。われわれは、想定される SBV 感染拡大に果たす役割を知るため、ヌカカ pools of midges について、 CODA-CERVA by RT-qPCR を調査した。2011年9月と10月に、戸外の UV light trap at Betekom (Province of Vlaams Brabant, Belgium) 1か所で捕獲された pool は、形態学的に species level まで判別できたサシバエ属 culicoides 各10匹から成っていた。これまでに検査が行われたのは only 23 pools に留まってはいるものの、このうち2つ（の pool) から SBV が検出されている (by RT-qPCRs detecting S and L segments of SBV according to protocols provided by FLI, Germany) 。9月7日に捕獲された pool は _C. obsoletus s.s._、10月4日に捕獲されたもう1つの pool は _C. Dewulfi_ から構成されていた。このことは、the transmission and spread of SBV にヌカカ biting midges が関与することを強く示唆する結果であり、さらに、調査された pools （の構成？）が限局 [ consisted exclusively of heads] されている事実から、ヌカカが単にウイルス血症の動物からの吸血によって SBV positive だったのではなく、増幅ベクター real amplification vectors の役目を果たしていることが、強く示唆される
