Barcelona, northern area of the Anzoátegui state において、9歳と6歳の姉妹が29日、bitter cassava を食べ死亡したとみられている。当初救急隊員は自宅内に停めてあった車内での窒息と報告していたが、6歳児の説明で the tuber を摂取していたことがわかった。死亡した患児は the Luis Razetti hospital in Barcelona 入院時に生体反応がなく死亡を宣告された。

Climate change highlights risk of malaria resurgence

Investigation status: Active

CDC, public health and regulatory officials in several states, and the FDA are collecting different types of data to investigate a multistate outbreak of _E. coli_ O157 infections. Epidemiologic and traceback data show that organic walnuts distributed by Gibson Farms, Inc. may be contaminated with _E. coli_ and may be making people sick.

Epidemiologic data

As of 30 Apr 2024, 12 people infected with the outbreak strain of _E. coli_ have been reported from 2 states (see map [for map and timeline, see source URL. - Mod.LL]). Illnesses started on dates ranging from 1 Feb 2024 to 4 Apr 2024 (see timeline). Of 11 people with information available, 7 (64%) have been hospitalized. Two patients have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a serious condition that can cause kidney failure. No deaths have been reported.

Schuyler County, New York の住民はふたたび、カンピロバクター _Campylobacter 汚染のおそれがあるとして、未殺菌生ミルク unpasteurized, raw milk from Sunset View Creamer を摂取しないよう呼びかけられている。milk from the Odessa, NY, dairy in September 2023 で確認されたものと同じ菌が検出された。州農業市場当局者 the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets は、この乳業業者の生ミルクを摂取した1人が体調を崩したと述べている。菌が検出されたのは raw milk from Sunset View Creamer in preliminary で follow-up testing が行われている。

シーラーズの当局 Shiraz authorities が、アルコール飲料摂取後に複数の体調異常者が出た集会に関係し、3人を逮捕した。皮膚科医1人が死亡した。The Shiraz prosecutor's office が 28 people were poisoned, with one fatality と明らかにしている。poisoned "sealed whiskey," while others mention "non-standard and handmade" beverages などの様々なアルコールが摂取されたとされている。イランではアルコール製造が禁止され、ブラックマーケットで違法な飲料が出回っていることにより、このような事件が発生する。アルコールによる死亡の正確な数は不明だが、2023年6月のイランの法医学報告によると、前年度に644人が死亡したとされている。
