Highlights
- In the reporting week 49 (3-9 Dec 2018), 7 new confirmed cases were reported from Edo (1), Ondo (2), Bauchi (1), Plateau (1), and Kaduna (2) state, with 2 new deaths in Kaduna (1) and Ondo (1).
- From 1 Jan-9 Dec 2018, a total of 3276 suspected cases have been reported. Of these, 588 were confirmed positive, 17 were probable, and 2672 were negative (not a case).
- Since the onset of the 2018 outbreak, there have been 149 deaths in confirmed cases and 17 in probable cases. Case fatality rate [CFR] in confirmed cases is 25.4%.
- 23 states have recorded at least one confirmed case across 93 local government areas (Edo, Ondo, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Anambra, Benue, Kogi, Imo, Plateau, Lagos, Taraba, Delta, Osun, Rivers, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Gombe, Ekiti, Kaduna, Abia, Adamawa, Enugu and Kano). Seven states -- Edo, Ondo, Plateau, Gombe, and Kano -- are in active phase of the outbreak (figure 1).

夏が近づく中，南アフリカの Malaria cases の増加が見込まれている。As at the end of October 2018, more than 16 000 cases with 110 deaths が報告されているが，これは during the large upsurge in malaria seen in the 2017-2018 season より少ないものの，the 10-year period 2007-2016 の平均，around 7600 cases per year を上回っている。とりわけ，モザンビークからの感染拡大などが恐れられている。一部地域では，非常にわずかではあるが，これまで non-malaria areas と考えられてきた，parts of the Waterberg district などへの感染地域拡大も起きている。
