疫学調査の結果
初発感染例は 43歳の牧民で，農場での畑仕事を終えた 10月25日に突然発熱 (40℃) ，悪寒，嘔吐，胸痛，息切れ，血痰を伴う咳嗽の症状を発症した。リンパ節の腫脹はなかったと述べている。現地病院を受診し 2日間入院したが，10月27日に状態が悪化したため League Central Hospital (LCH) に救急搬送され，7日間，集中治療室に収容された。この患者が集中治療室に入院中だった 10月31日に，看病で付き添っていた 46歳の妻に，発熱 (38 ℃) を伴う咳の症状が現れた。LCH 病院入院の 24時間後に，激しい咳となり，血痰，嘔気，嘔吐，下痢など，症状が悪化した。CT 検査で肺炎と判明した。夫婦はともに，現地病院で 10月25日から 11月2日まで抗生物質による治療を受けていたが改善せず，11月3日に北京の病院に救急搬送され，moxifloxacin and cefoperazone sodium の投与と支持療法が行われたが，症状は改善しなかった。11月12日，Beijing CDC において血液および喀痰検体の検査が行われ，RT-PCR and colloidal gold-immunochromatography assay targeting the F1 antigen ならびに reverse indirect hemagglutination assay (RIHA) が陽性であることが確認された。培養検査でペスト菌 _Y. pestis_ は分離されなかったが，NGS sequencing was weakly positive for _Y. pestis_ genetic material だった ...
