from August 2020 until April 2021 の期間に，ミシガン大学キャンパス the University of Michigan Ann Arbor campus の環境サーベイランス活動として，wetted wall cyclone bioaerosol samplers and swab kits を用いて大気と表面のサンプルが集められた。gene N1 をターゲットとする Quantitative rRT-PCR 法により SARS-CoV-2 RNA を定量化した。The RNA concentrations 濃度により感染確率 probability を推定した。
Results
256 air samples and 517 surface samples を集め，陽性率はそれぞれ 1.6% and 1.4% だった。キャンパス内の合計感染者数は，環境中の陽性検体 positive environmental samples が確認された期間に著しく高くなった。推定された感染確率は，吸入 SARS-CoV-2-laden aerosols through inhalation によるものは about 1 per 100 exposures，汚染のある物質表面からの感染も 1 per 100 000 exposures と高かった。
