3例の炭疽患者 cases of human cutaneous anthrax で，うち 1例は髄膜炎 meningitis を合併し，いずれの患者も 1頭のウシ a single infected bullock が関連していた症例につき報告する。いずれも男性の，41歳のトラック運転手と，45歳と42歳の食肉処理場労働者 slaughterhouse workers が，四肢の浮腫と高熱を伴う，上肢の壊死性病変のため入院となった。3人全員が 1頭のウシの食肉処理場までの運搬に関わった。このウシの the prescapular lymph node リンパ節と，筋肉の一部の，微生物学的検査により炭疽菌 the presence of _Bacillus anthracis_ が確認された。3人の患者について，病変のある組織の生検が行われ，PCR 検査によりすべての検体で炭疽菌 _B. anthracis_ DNA が確認された。さらに，トラック運転手が激しい頭痛を訴えたため，脳脊髄液検体が採取され，PCR で炭疽菌陽性と確認されたことから，髄膜炎と診断された ...
