要約
ジカウイルスとデングウイルスの構造上の類似点のため，一方のウイルスの感染後にもう一方のウイルスに感染した場合の重症度に影響を与えることが予想される。以前の小児のコホート研究では，先行するジカ感染によりデングウイルス感染の発症および重症化リスクが高まる可能性が観察された。The Colombo Dengue study は，発熱から3日以内の成人の顕性感染患者について調査された a prospective hospital-based cohort study in Sri Lanka（スリランカ）であり，全患者について，抗デングウイルスエンベロープ Anti-Dengue Envelope およびジカ NS1 抗体 anti-Zika NS1 IgG antibodies by ELISA (Euroimmun, Lubeck, Germany) 検査が行われた。いずれかあるいは両ウイルスについて，発症前の感染歴と，調査時のデング感染への負の影響 adverse clinical outcomes との関連性について検討された。
合計 507 dengue infected patients のうち 342 (68%) and 132 (26%) patients が anti-dengue IgG and anti-Zika IgG, respectively 陽性だった。発症前に，デングとジカ，およびデングのみ，の感染があった患者では，いずれにも感染していない患者に比べ，血漿漏出，代償および非代償性ショック，重症デングのリスクが同程度に増加した。ジカウイルスのみの影響は，症例数が少ないため確認できなかった。
