スウェーデン公衆衛生当局 Folkhalsomyndigheten, or Sweden's Public Health Agency から，11月中旬以降にカーボベルデ Cape Verde への渡航に関連する，国内の 30例の赤痢感染例 cases of shigellosis が報告されている。これまでに菌株 species が特定できた 11 bacterial isolates : 9 _Shigella sonnei_ and 2 _Shigella boydii_ であった。他の欧州諸国においても Cape Verde からの感染拡大が確認されており，the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) に通知されている。スウェーデンの旅行者らの間では，腸管出血性大腸菌 enterohemorrhagic _Escherichia coli_, カンピロバクタ campylobacter，クリプトスポリジウム cryptosporidium ，ジアルジア giardia，などの消化管感染病原体も報告されている。カーボベルデへの渡航が関係する赤痢は以前にも報告された問題である ...

Primary laboratory studies showed the presence of ethylene glycol in the Doc-1 Max syrup. This drug is toxic, its 95% solution, when applied at 1-2 ml/kg, causes serious changes in the patient's health, namely vomiting, loss of consciousness, an epileptic attack, problems in the circulatory system, and acute renal failure.
