Cidofovir および its prodrug（プロドラッグ）である brincidofovirは，DNA 複製阻害剤 inhibitors of DNA replication で，2本鎖 DNA ウイルス multiple families of double-stranded DNA viruses に活性 a broad spectrum of activity を示す。
Tecovirimat は，より特異的にオルソポックスウイルスに対する活性 more specific activity against orthopoxviruses を示し，細胞間の感染伝播 cell-to-cell transmission に必要な細胞外エンベロ－プウイルス形成 the formation of the extracellular enveloped virus を阻害する。
各薬剤について，review basic pharmacology, data from animal models, and reported experience in human patients.
