サイクロスポーラ症 Cyclosporiasis は、寄生虫の _Cyclospora cayetanensis_ が原因の腸管感染症で、感染が確認されているのはヒトのみで、この寄生虫を含む排泄物で汚染された食品や水の中の oocysts を嚥下することで感染する。この疾患がはじめて報告されたのは1979年で、1994年に病原体が特定された。従来から米国外において、もしくは海外から輸入された食品により感染することが多かったが、近年、米国内の感染者数の増加がみられ、537 in 2016 から1194 in 2017に2倍以上の患者数となり、3519 cases in 2018と3倍に増え、in 2019, 4703 cyclosporiasis cases が報告された。国内栽培の食品でも確認され、それらによる感染が発生している。この寄生虫は洗うことで減らせるが、取り除くことはできない。
