今週、Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Mozambique, Nigeria, and South Sudan all のすべての国が新たなポリオ感染例 new polio cases を報告したと、[18 Jan 2024] from the Global Polio Eradication Initiative [GPEI] の最新報告で示されている。いずれも、2023年に確認された circulating vaccine-derived poliovirus type 1 (cVDPV1) or type 2 (cVDPV2) による感染例である。
チャド Chad confirmed 1 cVDPV2 case in Mandoul, bringing its number of 2023 cases to 51.
コンゴ（民）The DRC reported 4 cVDPV1 cases in Tanganyika, bringing its 2023 cases to 101, and 1 cVDPV2 case in Tshopo, raising the 2023 total to 118.
コートジワール Côte d'Ivoire reported 1 cVDPV2 case in Haut-Sassandra, bringing the country's 2023 cases to 6.
モザンビーク Mozambique had 1 cVDPV1 case in Zambezia, for a total of 4 for 2023.
ナイジェリア Nigeria confirmed 6 cVDPV2 cases, 1 in Kano and 5 in Katsina, bringing its 2023 total to 70.
南スーダン South Sudan recorded 1 cVDPV2 case in Central Equatoria, which doubled its 2023 total.

Olomouc においてジフテリア感染例 A case of diphtheria が確認され、この女性はペットから感染したものとみられている。しばらく発生のなかった the Olomouc[ky] region で確認された。
第二次世界大戦中に起きた最大のアウトブレイクでは、ジフテリア菌 _Corynebacterium diphtheriae_ によるこの恐ろしい病気により多数が死亡したが、the former Czechoslovakia 時代の1946年にワクチン接種が義務化されたおかげで激減し排除されていた。
長らくの間、最後の症例は1995年の the South Bohemian Region での確認であったが、2022年に合計5例が報告されてから状況が変化し始め、health statistics によると2023年には7例が確認されている。

The Sudanese Ministry of Health 保健省は、コレラアウトブレイク a cholera outbreak in the River Nile State が発生し 36 suspected cases and 2 deaths が報告されていると明らかにした。当初、2024年9月に Gedaref and Khartoum states で発生し、その後複数の州 several other states, including Al-Jazirah, White Nile, Red Sea, and Kassala に拡大した。
