非チフスサルモネラ菌 Nontyphoidal _Salmonella_ は，カナダおよび米国内の腸管疾患に関連する最も一般的な病原菌として常に報告されている。多くの場合，ヒトの感染は特定の食品の摂取または動物との接触が原因となっている。通常，暴露から12-36時間（6時間-16日間）に発症し，多くは治療を要することなく治癒する。しかし，6歳未満の幼小児，65歳以上の成人，免疫低下の患者らでは，侵襲性感染となるおそれが高くなる。

2022年6月，オンタリオ州公衆衛生当局 Public Health Ontario (PHO) に対して，2例のまれなサルモネラ感染症例 cases of a rare _Salmonella_ serovar (_Salmonella enterica_ serovar Vitkin [_Salmonella_ Vitkin]) が地域保健当局から報告された。
これらの症例には，発症日は4週間の間隔があったが，近い関連性 (within 2 alleles based on core-genome multilocus sequence typing [cgMLST]) が認められ，共通の感染源が想定された。
この症例が確認されるまでの少なくとも14年間，オンタリオ州でも他のカナダ国内でも他の感染例は報告されておらず No cases of _Salmonella_ Vitkin ，PulseNet USA (CDC) でも2021年までの the Vitkin serovar 報告はわずか23回にすぎなかった。Similarly, no outbreaks associated with _Salmonella_ Vitkin were documented within the CDC National Outbreak Reporting System during 1971-2020 (14).

Methods
Results
Epidemiology: Both Ontario case-patients は1歳未満で，相同する分離菌 isolates related within 3 alleles の感染であった。発症日は2022年4月と5月で4週間間隔があった。入院，死亡は報告されていない。共通する食品の情報（粉ミルクを含む）は得てない。しかしながら，報告者（近親者？） the proxy respondent が自宅内で１ないし複数の bearded dragons（トカゲ）を飼育していたと述べていた。1人が，トカゲにマウスを与えていたと報告している。
全米10州で12例の同株菌感染例 cases of _Salmonella_ Vitkin across 10 states が確認され，genetically related to the outbreak strain，発症日は from March 2021 to September 2022 であった。米国の患者の年齢の中央値はカナダと同じで，8例（67%）が1歳未満であった。
暴露の情報の得られた the 11 US patients のうち，8例 (73%) に直接または家族と bearded dragons との接触が認められた。

A higher abundance of _Ae. albopictus_ was observed in the Malaga province compared to localities in the Granada province. Furthermore, similar numbers of _Ae. albopictus_ mosquitoes were captured in more urbanized areas of Granada（都会化された地域に多く）, while the lowest counts were recorded in the less urbanized area（あまり都会化されていない地域に少ない）.
These results were compared to captures of another common species in the area, specifically _Culex pipiens_...
Conclusions
_Ae. albopictus_ is an important nuisance for human populations in the invaded area where it may also play a role as a potential vector of locally circulating and imported pathogens. The species was introduced in southern Spain in recent decades and is currently experiencing a population increase.
