- エムポックスワクチン接種の対象者は，少なくとも28日間をあけて 2 doses of the JYNNEOS vaccine を接種する。エムポックス感染のリスクがあり1回のみワクチンを接種している場合は，ただちに2回目の接種を受ける。
皮膚や性器の病変があるなど，エムポックスの症状 signs and symptoms of mpox がある患者との濃厚接触や，げっ歯類 rodents (rats, squirrels), 非ヒト霊長類 non-human primates (monkeys, apes) などの哺乳動物など，（生死にかかわらず）野生動物との接触を避ける。
体調を崩している人が使用し汚染のおそれのあるもの（衣服，寝具，医療用具など）や野生動物が触れた可能性のあるものに触れない。
野生動物の肉 meat from wild animals (bushmeat) の摂取や，野生動物を使った製品 products (creams, lotions, powders) derived from wild animals の使用を避ける。
- 新たに原因のわからない皮膚病変（身体の部位を問わない）を発症した場合は，発熱の有無にかかわらず直ちに医療機関を受診する。
- 医師に対し，発症前21日間の渡航先を伝える。

アフリカ Mpox in Africa: 2022年初以降2024年7月28日までの間に，合計3万7583 cases and 1451 deaths (致死率 case fatality rate [CFR]: 3.9%) of mpox が，15 African Union Member States (AU MS) から報告された:

2023年だけで1万4957 cases and 739 deaths (CFR: 4.9%) from 7 AUMS から報告された。2022年との比較で a 78.5% increase in the number of new cases であった。
本年初めから7月28日までに合計1万4250 cases (2745 confirmed; 11 505 suspected) and 456 deaths (CFR: 3.2%) of mpox from 10 AU MS が報告されている:

On 25 Jul 2024, the MoH reported 3 confirmed cases and no deaths of mpox in Bujumbura Nord, Gitega and Isare districts.
中央アフリカ共和国 CAR:
Since the beginning of the year [2024], 213 cases (28 confirmed; 185 suspected) and no deaths of mpox have been reported from 14 of 35 districts in CAR.
カメルーン Cameroon:
Since the beginning of the year [2024], a total of 35 cases (5 confirmed and 30 suspected cases) and 2 deaths (CFR: 6.6%) of mpox were reported from 6 (Adamawa, Centre, Littoral, Nord, Nord-Ouest and Sud-Ouest) of the 10 regions in Cameroon.

Since the beginning of the year [2024], a total of 146 cases (19 confirmed; 127 suspected) and one death (CFR: 0.7%) have been reported from 5 of the 12 provinces in Congo. Of the confirmed cases, persons > 15 years accounted for 56%, and males accounted for 58%.

Since the beginning of the year [2024], 4 confirmed cases and no deaths of mpox have been reported in Ghana.
Since the outbreak in 2022, a total of 131 confirmed cases and no deaths of mpox have been reported from Ghana.

Since the beginning of the year [2024], 5 confirmed cases and no deaths of mpox have been reported from 2 counties in Liberia: Grand Kru (3) and Nimba (2).

Since the beginning of the year [2024], the NCDC has reported 24 confirmed cases and no deaths of mpox from 12 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Of the confirmed cases, children < 10 years accounted for 50%, with the males (67%) being most affected.
ルワンダ Rwanda:
On 25 Jul 2024, the MoH reported 2 confirmed cases of mpox in the Gasabo and Rusizi districts. The 1st case is a 33-year-old female from Rusizi district who presented with fever and skin rash at Islamic Health Center on 20 Jul 2024. The 2nd case is a 34-year-old male from the Gasabo district who presented with skin rash, fever, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes at Kibagabaga Hospital on 23 Jul 2024. Both cases reported a history of travel to the DRC.
南アフリカ South Africa:
On 13 May 2024, the National Department of Health declared an outbreak of mpox in South Africa. Cumulatively, 22 confirmed cases and 3 deaths (CFR: 14.0%) have been reported from 3 of 9 provinces in South Africa: Gauteng (11 cases; 1 death), KwaZulu Natal (10; 2) and Western Cape (1; 0). All the reported cases are males between 17 and 43 years old. One community death was reported from KwaZulu Natal province.
Sequencing results revealed mpox Clade IIb sublineage.
