A review of surveillance questionnaires found that many cases visited a single venue in the preceding Easter holiday period for a lamb petting experience.

The epidemiological situation
Between 1 Jan and 23 Aug [2024] there were 2万1466例 reported mpox cases across 13 African Union member states.
Of these, 3350 were confirmed cases, while 18 116 were suspected. The outbreak also resulted in 591 deaths, leading to a case fatality rate (CFR) of 2.9%.
Lab tests not reliable

Testing for confirmed cases
The Africa CDC DG added that for all mpox cases, countries must perform HIV and STI tests.

Abstract
2023年後半の早い時期に、地域内感染が知られていたアマゾン Amazon regions with known endemic transmission においてオロプーシェウイルス Oropouche virus 感染による大規模流行の発生が確認され、南米及びカリブ海地域 South America and the Caribbean の新たな地域にも広がった。ヒトは、同ウイルスにヌカカと蚊 infected biting midges and some mosquito species から感染する。
通常は自然治癒する発熱性の感染症だが、2例のオロプーシェウイルス感染例の死亡と、妊娠予後が不良となった母子感染が報告され、公衆衛生上の脅威として懸念されている。
南北アメリカの地域内で感染するおよそ8000例に加え、キューバとブラジルから帰国した欧州の旅行者で、渡航関連のオロプーシェウイルス感染例 travel-associated Oropouche virus disease cases が報告されている。

Rare infection linked to consumption of raw dairy products

The NPPO [National Plant Protection Organisation] of Italy recently informed EPPO of the first finding of citrus yellow vein clearing virus (CYVCV, EPPO Alert list) on its territory.
In May 2024, symptoms of leaf vein clearing were observed on lemon (_Citrus x limon_) trees in a private garden located in the province of Napoli. Seven plants were sampled (6 symptomatic lemon trees and 1 asymptomatic sweet orange tree, _Citrus x aurantium_ var. _sinensis_) and tested by RT-PCR.
