最近西アフリカを旅行したアイオワ州の住民 A resident of eastern Iowa がラッサ熱 Lassa fever 感染により死亡したと、28日に州保健当局 The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services が明らかにした。暫定検査でウイルス陽性が確認され、the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention が確定診断作業を行っている。中年の患者で、西アフリカへ旅行した際に感染したとみられている。
The current risk of transmission in the United States is "incredibly low," according to Iowa State Medical Director Dr. Robert Kruse.
Since 1969, there have been only 8 known cases in the United States, all of them travel-related.

[24 Oct 2024] 以降、高雄市の店の弁当 boxed meals from an eatery in Kaohsiung を食べた60人が食中毒の症状を発症していると、市保健当局 the city's Department of Health が26日に発表した。10月24日にはじめて病院から、23日に a small storefront restaurant in the city's Sanmin District の弁当を購入し食べたあと、嘔吐、下痢、発熱の症状のある患者3人についての報告があった。その後、高雄市の複数の病院からも同様の患者が報告された。受診した患者は46人で、追跡調査で14人が判明した。7人が入院した。
