ブリティッシュコロンビア州疾病対策局 The British Columbia Centre for Disease Control [BCCDC] は、2010年夏に州内周辺のチャリティー charity booths で販売された jars of watermelon jelly にボツリヌス菌が混入した疑いがあるとして注意を呼びかけている。Vancouver Island のまれなボツリヌス症 Botulism の症例の発生をきっかけに、Jamnation Fine Foods 社製の 120 ml jars of the jelly の回収が開始された。このジェリーは the British Columbia Huntingtons Research Foundation charity booths in Duncan で販売されたもので、州内の他の地域でも販売されている可能性があるとされている。

保健当局 the Health SEREMI [las Secretarias Regionales Ministeriales de Salud; Regional Ministerial Secretariat] からの情報によると、同地方で2011年初のハンタウイルス Hantavirus 感染が the Public Health Institute において確定診断された。the Coyhaique Hospital で回復しつつある 26歳の男性と3歳の娘である。the La Lomita area of Guadal の自宅で感染したと見られている。男性は1日に入院となり、重症呼吸不全と肺水種のため人工呼吸器を装着されていた。続いて男性の妻と娘の検査が行われたが、娘は2月13日に発熱と呼吸器症状があり、18日に the Cochrane の病院で治療を受けていた。
[Mod.TY－ ハンタウイルス感染が疑われて、男性と同じ the Cochrane Hospital に入院した Osorno の20歳の学生1名について触れられていないのは不思議である (20110304.0715) 。おそらく、学生については診断が確定されていないためであろう]
