7月に髄膜炎 meningitis due to _Neisseria meningitidis_ type C により死亡した別の学生と同じ研究室所属の，24歳の大学生1名が，髄膜炎菌性髄膜炎で死亡したと報じられている。最新の症例について，病原体はまだ分離されていない: NAAT [nucleic acid amplification testing，核酸増幅検査] assays では，髄膜炎菌 _N. meningitidis_, が確認されており，これら2名の死亡が同じ菌 the same type and strain によるものかどうか，比較が行われている。 以下 1 and 2 [in Italian] 参照願いたい。
