ギリシャ南部 Argolida, Peloponnese region, Southern Greece における再興 the latest re-emergence により死亡して発見されたカササギ Eurasian magpies (_Pica pica_)で，ウエストナイルウイルス the 1st RT-PCR positive results for West Nile virus (WNV) RNA を初めて確認した。the same region of Argolida.では 9日までに，合計 20 human WNV cases with 2 deaths が報告されている。また最近，同地域のウマの血清抗体陽性 IgM-capture ELISA seropositive も報告された。2017年6月下旬から，different areas of Argolida, Peloponnese region; Aria, Inachos, Ireo and Nafplio における野鳥の死亡 dead wild birds (_Pica pica_, _Corvus corone cornix_)が報告されていた。7月中旬までに，土着の野鳥，とりわけカササギ Eurasian magpies の個体数が目立って減少 a noticeable reduction of the native wild bird population したことが，住民らにより目撃されている。さらに，Inachos 近郊では神経症状のある野鳥が確認され，症状のある鳥類には，不活発，飛翔不能，地上低置，外部刺激(ヒトが近づくなど)への無反応が認められた。7月第4週に，分子学的に WNV が確認された Inachos に近い場所の，半径 300m の範囲内で 20羽の死体 dead Eurasian magpies が回収された。新鮮な死骸だけから組織を採取し，脳，肝，脾，腎組織 pools of liver, spleen and kidney tissue から total RNA を抽出した。RT-PCR 検査を行い，脳と腎組織からは viral RNA が得られた。2件の野鳥からの陽性検体で Sequence analysis を行い，lineage 2 strains と確認した。the 1st results of an ongoing study for the surveillance of WNV in wild birds in the Peloponnese Region, while collection of more samples and efforts for recording clinical signs are continuing.
