9 North East hospitals で見舞客の面会が禁止される結果となった，ノロウイルスアウトブレイク A norovirus outbreak の原因は，Wansbeck General Hospital の見舞客が入院患者の部屋に持ち込んだムール貝 mussels だったと，保健当局 the Northumbria Healthcare trust が明らかにした。4カ所の病院で約 180人の見舞客や職員が感染し，across North Tyneside and Wansbeck hospitals で 7つの病棟が一斉に閉鎖された。9 hospitals across North Tyneside and Northumberland では感染拡大防止のため，終末期の患者以外との面会が禁止されている。

アフガニスタン公衆衛生省 The Ministry of Public Health in Afghanistan は最近，国内のクリミア・コンゴ出血熱症例の増加 an increase in the number of Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever (CCHF) cases を報告した。2017年，合計 237 cases of CCHF including 41 deaths (CFR: 17.2 percent) が，全国 27 provinces out of 34 provinces から報告された。最も患者数が多かった -- 71 cases including 13 associated deaths (CFR: 18.3 percent)のは，首都カブール the capital city, Kabul だった。男女比は 2:1で，全症例のうち， 26例が検査で確定診断された。Herat province にはウイルスが常在 an endemic foci for CCHF おり，合計 67 cases including 10 deaths (CFR: 14.9 percent)が報告されている。これら 2つの地域はパキスタンおよびイランと国境を接しており，国境を越えた家畜の移動が管理されないまま頻繁に行われている。CCHF による死者のほとんどが 6月から 9月の，犠牲祭 Eid Al-Adha (sacrifice feast in Islam)の頃に発生している。
