ギリシャの保健当局者は，8月以降，熱帯熱マラリアではない 9人のマラリア国内感染例 autochthonous non-_Plasmodium falciparum_ malaria cases が確認されていると明らかにした。the 9 introduced cases (8 _P. vivax_ （三日熱マラリア） and one non-_P. falciparum_) の詳細:
- the municipal unit of Tichero, municipality of Soufli, regional unit (RU) of Evros において感染したとみられ，8月20-26日に発症した 1 _P. vivax_ case ;
- the municipal unit of Feres, municipality of Alexandroupoli, RU of Evros で感染したとみられ，8月13-19日に発症した，1 _P. vivax_ case;
- the municipal unit of Echedoros, municipality of Delta, RU of Thessaloniki において感染したとみられ，within the weeks of 15 Sep-10 Oct 2018 に発症した 7 cases (6 _P. vivax_ and 1 non-_P. falciparum_) で，輸入感染例からの一次感染と考えられている。
2018年は 10月後半までに，ギリシア国内で 47 total malaria cases に報告されており，上記以外は imported (37) or unclassified (1)と考えられている。37例の輸入感染例のうち，23 例はマラリア感染地域からの移民 immigrants from malaria endemic countries (17 from the Indian subcontinent （インド亜大陸） and 6 from Africa アフリカ) と 14 cases の旅行者(from Africa だった。ギリシャは 1974年にマラリア排除宣言を行ったが，2009年以降，国内各地で三日熱マラリアの患者 locally acquired/introduced _P. vivax_ malaria cases が報告されており，散発例が主であるが，2011-12年には小集積も発生している。
