わずか less than 3 weeks (7-29 Jan 2019) の間に，国内各地から Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital (STIDH) 熱帯感染症病院に搬送された合計 4人 (12 to 38 years of age) が狂犬病 rabies により死亡した。イヌによる咬傷の既往と，恐風症や恐水症などの症状から狂犬病と診断されているが，入院時に攻撃性を呈した患者はいなかった。いずれも合併症で死亡した。政府当局が無料の狂犬病ワクチン接種を提供しているにもかかわらず，この数十年，依然として狂犬病で死亡する患者の数が減らない。

(the United Arab Emirates (UAE) から帰国した女性 2名が，デング熱 dengue fever (DF)と診断された。UAE での感染例が報告された初めての症例である)
→ この患者らは後に，2018年12月31日から 2019年1月4日にかけて，モルジブにも旅行したと述べたことから，UAE ではなく，モルジブで感染したと判断された
