国立感染症研究所 Japan's National Institute of Infectious Disease (NIID) の新たな発表で，風疹のアウトブレイク the Rubella virus outbreak の感染拡大が続いていることが明らかにされた。4日現在，2019年に報告された風疹の患者数は 2156 Rubella cases となり，7月以降およそ 260例が新たに確認されている。地域別で見ると，東京都内 the city of Tokyo で 37% of Japan's 2019 Rubella cases が確認されている。妊娠女性と胎児にとって危険度が高いことから，the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) は 8月7日，"ワクチン接種や既往感染による免疫のない妊娠女性は，アウトブレイクが発生している間，日本への渡航を行うべきではない" としている。ただし，MMR ワクチンは弱毒化生ワクチンであるため，妊娠女性は接種すべきではない，とも説明されている ... また，接種後 4週間は妊娠を避けるよう注意されている ... 先天性風疹症候群の症状 ... 新たな NIID の報告によると，2019年に日本国内で 3例の先天性風疹症候群の症例が確認されている。during 2005-2015 in the USA に報告されたのは，わずかに only 8 babies with CRS だった。さらに，米国内で報告される風疹の患者は，1年間に 10例足らずである。2012年以降の (米国内で報告された) 風疹患者はすべて，海外在住または海外渡航によるものだった。海外への旅行者に対し，the CDC は a Level 2 Travel Alert regarding Japan's ongoing Rubella virus outbreak in August 2019 を発出している ... カナダおよび英国の保健当局 the Public Health Agency of Canada and the UK Foreign Travel Advice も "pregnant women who are not protected against rubella avoid traveling to Japan"との勧告を行っている。米国内で認可されている風疹ワクチン approved rubella vaccines は 2種類: MMR II-Rubella and ProQuad。ほとんどの薬局で入手できる。Travelers to Japan can request a rubella vaccine counseling appointment with a local pharmacist.
