モンゴルで 15歳の少年が腺ペスト bubonic plague により死亡したと，保健省が明らかにした。感染症センター The National Centre for Zoonotic Diseases (NCZD) によると，中国との国境にある西部ゴビアルタイ県 the western province of Govi-Altai (also spelled Altay) のこの少年は，マーモットの肉 marmot meat を食べ死亡した。"13日，検査 The result of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test により，15歳の少年の死因はペスト bubonic plague と診断された," と発表された。今回の死亡は，以前 7月にとなりのホブド県 the neighboring province of Khovd で検査陽性となった 2例に続くもの。2019年にも，マーモットの生肉を食べたとされる夫婦のペストによる死亡により，バヤンオルギー県 the Mongolian province of Bayan-Olgii が封鎖された。
