治験では報告されなかった心筋炎と心膜炎が，一般人口へのワクチン接種後に多数報告されている。England between 1 Dec 2020 and 24 Aug 2021 の 16歳以上について，adenovirus (ChAdOx1, n = 20 615 911) or messenger RNA-based (BNT162b2, n = 16 993 389; mRNA-1273, n = 1 006 191) vaccines 接種後もしくは SARS-CoV-2 検査陽性後の 28日間の，心筋炎，心膜炎および不整脈による入院または死亡について調査した。ワクチン接種後（the 1st dose of ChAdOx1 and BNT162b2 vaccines and the 1st and 2nd doses of the mRNA-1273 vaccine over the 1-28 days postvaccination period）, および検査陽性判明後 after a SARS-CoV-2 positive test に，心筋炎リスクが上昇していた。100万人あたり，ChAdOx1 1回目接種後 28日間に 2イベント，BNT162b2 では 1，mRNA-1273 では 6 の心筋炎が増えた。a 2nd dose of mRNA-1273 接種後 28日間では 10 増加した。一方， SARS-CoV-2 検査陽性後には，40 件の心筋炎イベントの増加があった。
