パンデミック初期の数か月間の分娩前の受診（妊婦健診受診）の減少が，早期（premature，満期以前）の帝王切開および分娩誘発の 6.5% の減少につながったことが，Pediatrics 掲載の新たな研究で示された。Georgia Tech's School of Economics のチームが調査を行った。今回の結果は，一部の医学的介入による不必要な早産の可能性に対する疑問が示された。2010年から 2020年までの，米国内の 3900万件の出産に基づくもので，the National Center for Health Statistics のデータから，2020年 3月から12月までの妊娠 37週未満の早産児に焦点が当てられている。この期間の帝王切開または分娩誘発による早産の数は予測値を 0.35% 下回った。すなわち，出産（生産）数 10万あたり，帝王切開または分娩誘発による早産が 350件減ったことを意味し，調査期間中では（予測値より）1万件少なかったことになる。
