On 28 Mar 2022, 2 common murres (_Uria aalge_) were found dead at Fyllas Bank, west of Nuuk. On 30 Dec 2022, Statens Serum Institute confirmed highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (H5N1) in the samples from the 2 common murres.
This is the 1st occurrence of HPAI H5N1 in the country.
Epidemiological comments: According to article 10.4.1.4 of the Terrestrial Animal Health Code, Member Countries should not impose bans on the trade in poultry and poultry commodities in response to notification on the presence of influenza A viruses of high pathogenicity in birds other than poultry.
