先週，2例のエンテロウイルス感染例 cases of enterovirus 71 (EV71) が報告されたと，the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) が14日明らかにした。同ウイルスは1年以上確認されていなかったとして，注意を呼びかけている。director of the CDC's Epidemic Intelligence Center センター長は，先週下痢のため受診した患者数が16万5千人あまりと多く，そのほとんどがノロウイルス感染であったが，エンテロウイルスによる患者も含まれており，週ごとに増加傾向にあると述べた。先週のエンテロウイルス感染例の大部分が Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) によるものであったが，北部の2例の幼児で EV71 感染が確認された。1例は発熱と倦怠感のある1歳男児で，もう1例は発熱，咽頭痛，口腔潰瘍のある4歳女児であったと明らかにされている。
