2017年6月以降，欧州5か国，英国，米国において，国境を超えたサルモネラ菌感染症アウトブレイク, a persistent cross-border outbreak of _Salmonella [enterica_ serotype] Virchow ST[sequence type]16 の発生が継続している。a Rapid Outbreak Assessment released by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) today [30 Mar 2023] で報告された。多くの感染例がケバブミート kebab meat を提供するレストランに関連している。以下の国々から210例の感染が報告された: デンマーク Denmark (2), フランス France (111), ドイツ Germany (26), アイルランド Ireland (4), オランダ the Netherlands (34), 英国 the UK (32), and 米国 the USA (1)。入手可能であった患者からの聴き取り，追跡調査，ゲノム解析の情報から，汚染のある鶏肉を使ったケバブが感染原因であり，少なくともフランス，ドイツ，オランダの肉の流通経路 the EU poultry meat production chain 内で同菌 the clone の循環が存在していることが示された。ケバブ食品にはバッチナンバーがなく，関連づけられて行われたサルモネラ菌検査もないため，感染源として特定には至っていない。

小児の原因不明の急性肝炎 acute hepatitis of unknown etiology アウトブレイクが2022年4月にスコットランドで報告され，現在では35か国で確認されている。複数の最近の研究で，通常肝炎とは関連しないウイルスの human adenovirus (HAdV) との関係が示唆されている。今回詳細な症例対照調査を行い，ウイルスと宿主感受性の間 between adeno-associated virus 2 (AAV2) infection and host genetics in disease susceptibility の関連を確認したので報告する。next-generation sequencing (NGS), reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), serology and in situ hybridization (ISH) の手法を用いて，血漿中および肝生検材料中の最近の AAV2 ウイルス感染を特定したところ，26/32 (81%) hepatitis cases versus 5/74 (7%) of controls を確認した。さらに AAV2 は腫大した肝細胞内 ballooned hepatocytes に a prominent T cell infiltrate in liver biopsies の所見とともに存在していた。
In keeping with a CD4+ T-cell-mediated immune pathology, the Human Leucocyte Antigen (HLA) class II DRB1*04:01 allele was identified in 25/27 cases (93%), compared with a background frequency of 10/64 (16%; p = 5.49 x 10^12). In summary, we report an outbreak of acute pediatric hepatitis associated with AAV2 infection (most likely acquired as a coinfection with HAdV which is required as a "helper virus" to support AAV2 replication) and HLA class II-related disease susceptibility.
