香港保健当局 Hong Kong health officials が E型肝炎の症例 a case of human infection of rat Hepatitis E virus (HEV) について調査中であることを明らかにした。患者は持病のある32歳男性である。Queen Elizabeth Hospital でのフォローアップ中に肝機能検査の異常値に気づかれた。現在状態は安定している。血液検査 rat HEV upon laboratory testing で陽性が確認された。疫学調査で Wong Tai Sin 在住であることが確認されているが，げっ歯類 rodents or rats との接触や海外渡航歴は確認されていない。居住地 (Tsz Ching Estate, Wong Tai Sin) や勤務地 (On Tat Industrial Building, San Po Kong) の環境調査が行われ，Tsz Ching Estate においてげっ歯類の痕跡 some traces of rodents and possible hiding places for rodents が確認されている。げっ歯類の E型肝炎ウイルスの保有についてさらに詳しい調査が行われる。
