3月下旬以降オーストリアにおいて in a state of Austria、複数の小児が大腸菌感染 _E. coli_ infections により発病した。この数週間では3か所の施設 childcare facilities in the Frastanz area を中心に11人の小児 children and young people が、Shiga toxin-producing _E. coli_ (STEC, [also referred to as enterohemorrhagic _E. coli_, or EHEC) に感染した。The serotype was not mentioned by officials.
少なくとも2名の小児が溶血性尿毒症症候群 HUS [hemolytic uremic syndrome] を発症し、ほか4名が入院となったと、地域保健当局 officials in the province of Vorarlberg が明らかにした。
衛生当局者がこれら3施設を訪れ清掃・消毒作業を行い、食品検査も行われたが、いずれも陰性であった。from work surfaces in the kitchen area plus 9 food samples from affected childcare facilities and the central kitchen から13検体 swab samples が採取された。

半ダースの患者が発生した大腸菌感染アウトブレイクについて調査が行われている。ノルウェー公衆衛生研究所 The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) は、国内各地に在住の6人が発症し、すべての患者で同じ特徴を有する大腸菌 _E. coli_ O157:H7 with the same genetic profile が確認されたとしている。2人は2022年10月と11月に、残る4人は、2023年2月、3月、5月に発病している。重症例はなく、年齢は14歳から49歳までで、5人が男性である。
Two patients live in Rogaland, while Viken, Trøndelag, Vestland, and Oslo all have one case each.
感染源は特定されていないが、長い期間中の様々な時点で、5か所の郡 counties において確認されていることから、全国的に流通のある消費期限の長い食品によるものが想定される、と述べられている。
The Norwegian Veterinary Institute will analyze samples of foods that are suspected as possible sources of infection.
