ハンタウイルス Hantavirus は、まれであるが深刻な致死性疾患・ハンタウイルス肺症候群 Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome (HPS) の原因となり、Washington state では deer mice がこのウイルスを伝播している。公衆衛生当局が、ティーンの感染例 a case in a teenage King County resident について調査を行っている。この患者は2023年8月上旬に入院となったが、すでに回復しつつある。Issaquah にある自宅内のネズミ a mouse infestation に暴露したほか、居住地域 a residential area in Issaquah, Washington 内でげっ歯類による刺咬を受けていた。

渡航に関連のないサイクロスポーラ症の統計 a follow-up on non-travel related _Cyclospora_ illnesses in Canada year to date [27 Aug 2023] として、公衆衛生当局 the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) は現在までに299例 cases through 15 Aug 2023 を報告している。全患者のうち、263 cases が Ontario, followed by Quebec (25), British Columbia (10) and Nova Scotia (1) からの報告であった。6例の入院があったが、死亡は報告されていない。感染源の調査が行われているが、過去の感染は輸入された生鮮食品が関係しており、pre-packaged salad mix, basil, cilantro, berries, lettuce, and snow and snap peas などが含まれる。
サイクロスポーラ症 Cyclosporiasis は微小寄生虫 the microscopic parasite _Cyclospora cayetanensis_ による消化器疾患で、この微生物による汚染のある食品または水の摂取により感染する。水様性下痢となることが多いが、食欲不振、体重減少、胃痛、腹部膨満、嘔気、倦怠感などの症状が現れることもある。汚染のある感染源の摂取から、およそ1ないし2週間後に発症する。治療が行われない場合は、最長で1か月以上症状が持続し、また複数回再燃することもある。通常、直接のヒト-ヒト感染は起こらない。

国内の養豚業が集まるイタリア北部の農場 a farm で、アフリカ豚熱ウイルス African Swine Fever virus (ASFv) が確認された。北部の家畜での感染が確認されたのは今回が初めてとなる the 1st case of ASF in domestic pigs in the north of the country。the World Organisation for Animal Health の報告によると、同ウイルスが確認されたのは a farm in Lombardy region, Pavia province, close to the village Montebello della Bataglia で、この農場には 166匹のブタ pigs on-site が飼育されており、うち130頭のウイルス感染が確認された。すべてのブタが処分された。ウイルス感染がはじめて疑われたのは8月17日だった。他の農場への接触のない an isolated event と報告されているが、近隣地区のサーべーランスが強化されている。イタリアでは、2022年1月に初めて野生のイノシシの感染 the 1st outbreak of ASF, genotype II が確認され ... その後、3 additional regions of Italy で発生している。
