On 25 Oct 2023 the Argentina government veterinary service SENASA confirmed HPAI H5N1 in elephant seal（ゾウアザラシ） pups at the sites of mass mortalities.
Confirmed positive kelp gulls (_Larus dominicanus_，カモメ) and South American terns (_Sterna hirundinacea_，アジサシ) were found at the same sites.
