先週英国の保健当局 the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) に、319例の百日咳疑い例の報告 notifications of 319 suspected cases of pertussis (whooping cough) があった。前週から20%増加し、パンデミック開始以降の週あたりの最多の感染者数だった。
2024年のこれまでの累計は979 cases で、2023年初の4週間に確認された44例の20倍以上となっている。
2024年に確認された全症例の5例に1例にあたる212例が Wales の症例で、いずれの地域よりも多く more than any region of England、この中には先週 Wales で確認された77例も含まれている...
But case numbers are now rising faster in the East Midlands, where the weekly count tripled to 30 last week, and in Yorkshire and Humberside, where cases almost doubled to 44. Infections also increased in the East of England and the South East but fell in all the remaining regions of England.

Texas Horse Positive for ERBV
On 8 Feb 2024 a 4-year-old Paint gelding in Cooke County, Texas, was confirmed positive for equine rhinitis virus B (ERBV). The horse developed clinical signs on 5 Feb 2024, including fever, lethargy, nasal discharge, cough, and difficulty swallowing. He is now under voluntary quarantine, and 3 additional cases are suspected.
