Hepatitis A outbreak in Kerala: 12 deaths so far, 4 districts on alert

ケララ Kerala 州で近年，最悪の A型肝炎アウトブレイク its worst outbreak of the hepatitis A virus が報告されている。州内で1977例 confirmed cases and 12 deaths in the 1st 4-and-a-half months of this year [2024] が確認されていると，政府データで示された。このほかに another 5536 suspected cases in the state in 2024 が報告され，15例がこのウイルス感染により死亡した可能性が疑わrている。

According to state health department data, the number of cases reported until 13 May 2024 is higher than the number reported in the whole of 2023 (1073 cases), 2022 (231), 2021 (114), 2020 (464), 2019 (1620), 2018 (1369), and 2017 (988).

Health department confirms _Salmonella_ outbreak at Cracker Barrel

北部 northern Vinh Phuc Province の the Shinwon Ebenezer Vietnam textile company の会社で，14日に11時半と12時半の2班に分かれて3290人の従業員が昼食を取り，350人以上が食中毒を発症した suffered food poisoning symptoms。食事は chicken, broccoli, legumes and pickles で，会社が用意したものだった。

午後2時に5人が腹痛と嘔気を訴え the Lac Viet Friendship Hospital に搬送され，その後複数人が同じ症状となり，一部は気を失った。会社によると午後5時前に351人が食中毒を発症し，医療施設を受診した。A Lac Viet Hospital spokesperson said over 200 workers had been admitted with food poisoning symptoms, but no one was too ill（重症例はない）。

原著タイトル _Plasmodium vivax_ infections among immigrants from China traveling to the United States. Emerg Infect Dis. 2024; 30(7).

マラリア species of the _Plasmodium_ genus の中で最も広い地域に分布する、三日熱マラリア _Plasmodium vivax_ はヒトのマラリアの原因となり、ハマダラカの刺咬 the bite of infectious _Anopheles_ mosquitoes により伝播される。_P. vivax_ は、世界のマラリア感染の原因として2番目に多い病原体 the 2nd most prevalent cause of malaria globally であり、西半球のマラリア感染の大部分を占めている; [およそ] 39万7000例 cases of _P. vivax_ malaria in the Americas in 2022 が報告されている。

ほとんどが渡航関連であるため、米国の医療施設において三日熱マラリアの患者が受診することは少ない relatively infrequently encountered at most institutions 。The CDC によると、2018年の米国内の三日熱マラリアの患者全体の72%が常在国からの輸入感染例だった。

Since early 2023、ロサンゼルス医療センター Los Angeles General Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, USA では、懸念すべき感染例の増加 a concerning rise in _P. vivax_ cases が、特に南部から入国する中国からの移民で認められている。診断した10 cases of _P. vivax_ malaria のうち、9例が among immigrants from China who came to the USA by land via South and Central America（中南米経由）だった。

一方、during 2016-2022 にわれわれの施設で確認したのはわずか 2 cases of _P. vivax_ で, one patient in 2017 and another in 2018 で、いずれもアジア出身者ではなかった。

加えて one case of non_P. vivax_ malaria during that timeframe を確認している。

すべての症例は、厚層および薄層血液塗抹標本の鏡検 thick and thin blood smear microscopy と the BinaxNOW Malaria test (Abbott Laboratories) で診断された。9人の中国移民は個別に受診したため、同行していたかどうかは不明である。合併症のないマラリアの診断基準に適合し、either hydroxychloroquine, chloroquine, or atovaquone/proguaniln のいずれかで治療し、続いて再発予防の治療を antirelapse treatment with primaquine を行った。

アジア系米国人の多い地域 a catchment area in the San Gabriel Valley, California, with a majority Asian American population の少なくとも1か所の病院でも，2023年以降，similar findings of dramatic increases in _P. vivax_ cases が確認されている。

すべての症例が渡航関連で，地域内感染伝播の証拠はない no evidence of local transmission。

If feasible, persons embarking on travel via the South and Central America route should consider taking malaria prophylaxis.

In conclusion, clinical microbiology laboratories, particularly those in border states, should consider implementing rapid antigen testing for malaria to improve turnaround time for case detection but should be aware of the potential for false-negative results in patients with low parasitemia levels (9). Clinicians also should be aware of the possibility for an increase in _P. vivax_ malaria cases among immigrants from China arriving via the southern US border.

The last case of anthrax in Bishkek was registered in 2012; since then the situation has been favorable.

Jalal-Abad で炭疽感染例 A case of anthrax が記録されたと，the Kabar agency by the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance が明らかにした。Bishkek の医師を受診した a resident of Jalal-Abad が炭疽と診断され，この女性は現在治療を受けている。医師は，家畜のと畜による感染であると説明した。

"They slaughtered and distributed the meat without checking with a veterinarian. Everyone to whom they distributed the meat will be checked," they said.

フィレンツェにある，われわれの大学病院 our University Hospital Center in Florence で確認された，渡航関連の2型デング熱ウイルス感染例 a case of travel-related dengue due to DENV-2 について報告する。過去の DENV 感染歴がなく，他のデング熱発生地域への最近の渡航歴のない，若いイタリア人旅行者で Sharm-El-Sheik from 旅行から最近帰国した completed a leisure travel to Sharm-El-Sheik from 4-11 May 2024。帰宅後，この女性は発熱し，われわれの施設に入院し，with DENV-2 infection being confirmed by RT-PCR（デング熱ウイルスが確認された）。
