5月のこれまでに、ダニが媒介するウイルス a tick-borne virus known as severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS、重症熱性血小板減少症候群) の感染により 男性1名が死亡した、国内で今年3例目の死亡例 within Korea's 3rd fatal case of the disease this year となった。30日の North Gyeongsang Province 当局の発表によると、50代男性 the Pohang resident in his 50s は16日から発熱、苦痛？ hand-wringing、発語障害の症状を発症した。近郊の墓地 a gravesite in the neighboring South Gyeongsang Province で草むしりをしたあとだった。翌日、SFTS と診断され、集中治療が行われたが回復兆候はみられず、28日に死亡した。
これまでの5ヶ月間に、全国で12人の患者の SFTS が確認されており、他の死亡例2例は Seoul and Gangwon Province で発生した。

The Oneida County Health Department reports one person has been exposed to a rabid fox in the town of Verona, and it is urging residents to recognize the signs of rabies and ask around if anyone else was exposed to the fox.
The fox was sent to the New York State Department of Health Wadsworth Center for testing on 24 May 2024, and positive results were reported on 25 May 2024.
