保健省 The Ministry of Health によると，1416例のデング熱 laboratory-confirmed cases of dengue fever と 18例の死亡 laboratory-confirmed deaths が確認されている。発表の中ではまた，19日時点で a total of 1145 yellow fever notices have been issued to property owners/occupiers, directing them to clean up their surroundings と述べられている。

B群連鎖球菌の感染状況 the latest situation of invasive group B _Streptococcus_ infection について，保健当局 The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health による調査が20日も続けられている。淡水魚の取り扱い touching or handling raw freshwater fish に注意するよう市民に呼び掛けられている。
The CHP はこの数週間，侵襲性感染例 the invasive group B _Streptococcus_ infection cases を注視しており，infection number of serotype III sequence type 283 (ST283) の症例数を確認している。最近の病院サーベイランスデータでは，invasive group B _Streptococcus_ infection による1日当たりの入院患者数は落ち着いている has stabilized。
9月13日および16日の発表のあと，20日に新たにすでに入院中であった患者30例の感染 additional ST283 cases が報告されている。年齢は36歳から95歳まで，19例が敗血症，11例が関節膿瘍であった。それ以前に報告されていた40例 cases of ST283 infection を加え，a cumulative total of 70 patients residing in 18 districts throughout the territory となっている。全70例の発症日は9月10日より前だった。19例が退院，45人が入院中で安定しており，3例は重症で，持病のあった3例が死亡している。
疫学調査 The CHP's epidemiological investigations で，58 patients が発症前に生きた淡水魚 raw freshwater fish との接触または取り扱いがあったと答えている。うち6人が手に傷があったと述べている。

先週 [13-19 Sep 2024] 新たな2例の類鼻疽 new confirmed melioidosis infection cases が確認されたと，20日保健当局 The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health が明らかにした。
The first case は Sham Shui Po 在住の持病のある80歳男性で，9月14日に発熱と全身衰弱の症状を発症し，Caritas Medical Centre に入院となったが危険な状態である。
The second case は Sham Shui Po 在住の持病のある70歳男性で，15日に発熱，下痢，嘔吐を発症し，Caritas Medical Centre に入院となり状態は安定している。
Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.
So far, 15 melioidosis infection cases have been recorded in Hong Kong in 2024.
In 2023, 17 melioidosis infection cases were recorded.
[Mod.LL－ Melioidosis は常在地域において雨期に発生する疾患で，ヒトは主に土壌と水との接触で感染する。糖尿病，腎疾患，肝硬変，サラセミア，アルコール依存症，免疫抑制療法中，慢性閉塞性肺疾患，嚢胞性線維症，excess kava consumption 過剰摂取などがリスク因子である：Kava is an herbal member of the pepper family that can be associated with chronic liver disease.
すべての年齢で発症しうるが，40代と50代にピークがある。健康な患者でも劇症化や死亡が起こりえるが，リスク因子がない患者では少ない。
もっとも多い症状は肺炎で，高熱，激しい筋肉痛，胸痛を伴う。乾性咳嗽となることもあるが，気道分泌物は膿性で多量で時に血液が混じることもある。肺感染では菌血症やショックを伴い急速に死に至るおそれがある。
急性類鼻疽性敗血症は最も深刻な合併症で，血圧低下，高心拍出量，末梢血管抵抗低下を伴う。多くの症例で初発感染巣は軟部組織または肺である。皮膚組織，肺，肝，脾の多発膿瘍を特徴とし，致死率が高い a very high mortality rate of 80%-95%。適切な治療が迅速に開始されれば，致死率を 40%-50% まで低下させる可能性がある。
類鼻疽菌 _Burkholderia pseudomallei_ はもともと多くの抗生物質に耐性であるが，バイオテロ用 bioterrorism strains に even more resistant が作成されている可能性がある。
通常，テトラサイクリン tetracyclines, クロラムフェニコール chloramphenicol, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (SXT), 抗緑膿菌ペニシリン antipseudomonal penicillins, カルバペネム carbapenems, セフタジジム ceftazidime, and アモキシシリン/クラブラン酸 amoxicillin/clavulanate or アンピシリン/スルバクタム ampicillin/sulbactam により発育が阻止される。
Ceftriaxone and cefotaxime は in vitro activity は良好だが，効果が乏しく but poor efficacy，cefepime もマウスモデルでは ceftazidime ほど有効ではない。
