Background:
Oropouche fever, an orthobunyavirus disease endemic in Brazilian Amazon は, 2024年にブラジルで流行 an epidemic of Oropouche fever spread in Brazil が発生し more than 7930 cases between 1 Jan and 31 Aug [2024] が報告された。
妊娠女性が感染した際に、胎児に負の影響を及ぼす可能性が示唆されているため、
Infections in pregnant people have suggested the possibility of negative fetal、新生児の小頭症 newborns with microcephaly for known congenital pathogens and Oropouche virus (OROV) について検討した
Methods:
Findings:
先天性奇形のある 68 samples from 65 historical cases of congenital malformations and 3 cases from 2024 について調査を行い、いずれも from 10 states in Brazil の症例であった。
以前の症例 the historical cases のうちの3例がオロプーシェウイルス陽性 positive for OROV で残りの62 historical cases は陰性 negative だった。
The 3 cases from 2024 all すべて陽性 positive for OROV であった。
陽性のうち、5例が女児で1例が男児だった。
すべての病原体が検査できたわけではなく、一部は母親の検体が欠如していた。
One of the newborns (case 6) は aged 47 days に死亡しており、組織検体の検査 real-time RT-PCR, histopathology, and immunohistochemistry assays を行った。
One other newborn died in 2016, but no post-mortem samples were available.
OROV IgM in 5 of 5 newborn CSF samples, and 5 of 5 newborn serum samples. 4 of 5 maternal serum samples that were positive for OROV IgM.
One of 4 newborn CSF samples (case 6 at age 44 days) was OROV positive by real-time RT-quantitative PCR, and 0 of 4 newborn serum samples were positive, as were 0 of 3 maternal serum samples. ...
Interpretation:
原因不明の小頭症児 68 newborns with microcephaly of unknown cause のうち、6例でウイルス抗体 OROV IgM が確認され、死亡した1児の脳を含む組織でウイルス遺伝子と抗原 OROV RNA and antigen in several tissues, including the brain が確認された。
The possibility of OROV vertical transmission and potential fetal harm must be investigated with urgency.

人獣共通細菌感染症である Q熱 Q fever は、_Coxiella burnetii_ を原因とし、世界中に拡大している。急性感染症の多く Most acute _C. burnetii_ infections は無症候性、もしくは自然治癒性の発熱疾患 self-limiting, nonspecific febrile illness となる。呼吸器及び消化器症状が認められることも多く、時に入院を要する場合もあるが重症の致死的疾患の報告はまれである。
大規模研究では、only 3 (0.2%) of 1806 patients with acute Q fever が死亡; 2 of those deaths は持病の悪性疾患による死亡であった。
We report the cases of 9 patients from Queensland in tropical Australia with laboratory-confirmed acute Q fever who required intensive care unit (ICU) support to survive their infection.

the Upper West Region has recorded 17 suspected cases across 6 of its 11 districts. Of these, 7 cases have been confirmed, resulting in 6 deaths, primarily in the Nadowli/Kaleo District and Nandom Municipality.

Ondo State has had many outbreaks of Lassa fever, and has been a major epicenter of the virus.
not less than 90 out of about 200 suspected cases had been confirmed since the reported outbreak in the state which has necessitated the synergy between NCDC and the state government to combat the scourge frontally.
