新たな研究により、米国畜産業で広く使用されている抗生物質に対する一層の不安が示された 。

デング熱/デング出血熱 Dengue/dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) がインドで緊急課題となっている。国内の複数の地域で常在化 endemic し、毎年流行 annual outbreaks of dengue につながっており、ベクターのネッタイシマカ _Aedes aegypti_ mosquito が媒介する疾患である。during the period of September 2010 to January 2011 の期間に Patna [Bihar state] の 1か所の病院に発熱、筋肉痛、頭痛、眼窩後部痛、出血、体性痛、嘔吐、腹痛を訴えて入院となった 123 patients について、デング熱検査 dengue NSI Ag and Ab combe card method を実施したところ、34 (28 per cent) が陽性; 13 (38 per cent) が抗原反応陽性; 5 (14.7 per cent) が IgM 抗体のみ陽性、8 (24 per cent) が抗 IgG 抗体のみ陽性、だった。 21 (62 per cent) 人は both IgG and IgM antibody が陽性だった。血小板数は 34 000 から 280 000 per cumm (Mean 85 000/cumm) の範囲だった。25歳以上の患者が最も多く、最も入院患者数が多かったのは 9月から 11月 [2010] にかけての期間だった。血小板輸血が必要な患者が 21％だった ... Bihar は free from dengue と言われているが、2010年 9月に 3 districts Patna, Munger and Begusarai を中心とした流行が報告された。様々な地域から治療のために集まった患者が多かった

ケニア・モンバサ Mombasa 滞在中であった 30歳の日本人ボランティア 1名が、突然の発熱、悪寒、戦慄、体性痛、関節痛、咽頭痛を発症した。5月28日に現地病院に入院となった。入院時のマラリア抗原診断検査は陰性で、デング熱抗原・抗体検査 dengue NS-1 antigen and IgM は判定保留となった。10日間の入院後退院となり、 16日後？ day 16 after の血清検体は、自施設での抗原 dengue NS-1 antigen (Platelia, Bio-Rad, France) and dengue IgM,and IgG by ELISA 検査の結果はともに陽性であった。1982年にはじめてモンバサでデング熱が確認されたが 最近まで流行の発生は確認されていなかった。ケニアを含むアフリカでのデング熱発生に一層注意する必要がある。
