[Mod.MPP 注－比較的落ち着いていた 9日ぶりに、1日で新たに9人の感染が確認されたと報告されたことに驚かされた。国内でMERS-CoVに感染したと見られる患者が発生した他国においては、その後の発生が見られない中で、なぜサウジアラビア国内では、散発例と接触感染例が継続して発生しているのかを理解することは、今も困難である。 "seek and ye shall find （求めよ、さらば与えられん）" を反映する結果であって、多数の院内感染アウトブレイクを経験したサウジアラビアではseeking and finding が続けられているためなのか。それとも、サウジアラビア国内に住む人々の間には、他国に比べてこのウイルスに暴露しやすいリスクが高まるような、従来からの文化的背景の違いによる何かが存在するのだろうか。
11日の保健省ウェブサイト上の要約された情報を引用すると
: "この24時間に新たに9 MERS-CoV cases の感染が確定診断され、このうち4人はHofuf city ですでに確定診断された1名の患者との家庭内での接触者であり、他の弧発例4 sporadic cases はリャドRiyadh の異なる4カ所の病院から報告された。1例はTaif.の院内感染だった。
" 注目すべき点は、Hofuf の家庭内接触感染例はすべてall 4 of the household contacts に明らかな症状が認められsymptomatic、二次顕性感染例secondary clinical cases of MERS-CoV associated illness が確認されたこととなった。Hofuf (Hafoof) から最も新しく報告された症例は、5日に保健省が報告したa 39-year-old male と4月20日の a 61-year-old male である (潜伏期間は最大14日間とされているが、一方で、実際の接触および接触者の発症日は示されていないし、可能性は低いが後者も新たな患者と家庭内接触者である可能性もある)。
Taif の院内感染例については、9日に保健省が報告したa 48-year-old male からの感染である可能性が高い。
4 different hospitals in Riyadh の4例の弧発例については、何らかのハイリスク暴露、たとえばラクダやラクダのミルク、尿、生肉など、や、持病のための医療施設受診の可能性、の有無についての情報が得られれば興味深い。
