4月12日，ニジェール保健省は WHO に対して，東部 the Diffa region における E 型肝炎アウトブレイク a hepatitis E virus (HEV) outbreak の発生を報告した。同 19日に保健省が公式に明らかにした。2017年1月9日以降，the Centre Mere-Enfant de Diffa (Mother and Child Center) 母子センターの妊婦の間で，黄疸の症例の増加が認められていた。頭痛，嘔吐，発熱，結膜炎，骨盤痛，記憶喪失 memory loss などの初期症状が認められた。当初，アウトブレイクの原因として黄熱が疑われていたが，母子センター内の妊婦の患者が多く，隣国チャドで E 型肝炎アウトブレイクが発生していたことから，E 型肝炎ウイルス感染が原因である可能性があると考えられた。Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) に検体が送付されて検査が行われ，29検体中，15検体が HEV の PCR 検査で陽性となった。5月3日現在，死亡例 27例を含め，合計 282例の患者 suspected cases が報告されている。1例を除いて，死亡例はすべて妊娠女性であった(致死率 9.6 %)。5 of the 6 districts in the Diffa region が患者を報告しており，うち 188例が the Diffa and N'Guigmi districts の患者である。The Diffa region は，the Lake Chad basin crisis(飢饉) の影響を受けた地域で，多数の越境者がいる ... 厚生労働省検疫所 FORTH 参照願います。
