[ Mod.MPP 注－ 13日，The WHO updates が発出された。2017年に 野生株 1型ウイルス WPV1が確認されたのはパキスタンとアフガニスタンのみである，一方，the presence of cVDPV2 は，地理的に遠い 2カ国 - Syria in the Middle East, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa であり，経口ポリオワクチンのウイルスが，麻痺の原因となる神経毒性を獲得したことにより，根絶への道が遠のいた。いずれの国においても，ワクチン接種率が不十分な地域でアウトブレイクが発生している。シリアでは長引く内戦が続くイラク国境地域，コンゴ民主共和国では 2015年に新たに州となった，南東部の Haut-Lomamo having been a former district of Katanga province である。メディアの報道によると，5 newly identified AFP (acute flaccid paralysis，急性弛緩性麻痺) cases in Deir Al Zour, Syria の検査による確定診断は下されておらず，the WHO report では，the 58 previously reported AFP cases のうち，検査が行われたのは only 14 with 3 identifying cVDPV2 isolates, 11 not identifying any poliovirus であり，遺る 41 cases は未だ laboratory analyses は行われていない。おそらく今回の 5例は，the WHO report の the 58 cases 以外の症例と考えられる]
