ニューハンプシャー New Hampshire 州で 2例目となる，まれな蚊族媒介性ウイルス感染が発生した。州保健当局 The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services は，Goffstown の成人の a case of Jamestown Canyon virus [JCV]を確認した。ただし，州内で感染したのか，[州外での]旅行中に感染したかは明らかにされていない。患者の状態も公表されていない。
8月，Hanover の成人が同ウイルスに感染し，治療後退院となった。この患者は，ニューハンプシャー州内の蚊族の刺咬により感染したとみられている。
Jamestown Canyon virus は全米で確認されているが，多くのヒトは感染してもほとんど症状が現れないため，どの程度発生があるかをつかむことは困難である。2000年以降，重症例は約 50例程度が報告されているに過ぎない。West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis と同じく，Jamestown Canyon virus も中枢神経系の重篤な合併症を起こしうる。2017年以前に州内で患者の発生が確認されたのは，2013 and late 2015 の 2回のみである。
Jamestown Canyon virus は，蚊族とダニが保有する疾患の 1つで，近年，New England 州でも初めて発生が確認された。温暖化が感染拡大につながったことと，検出の努力がなされたことなどが要因とされている ... －2℃以下の気温が 2時間以上続く状況と定義される，the 2nd hard frost of the season が到来するまで，mosquitos are still active.

岡崎市 Okazaki City の 4つの幼稚園で 100人近い園児が，サルモネラ菌汚染があったと思われる弁当 boxed meals を食べた後発病した。提供した業者は，過去にも菌による汚染のある食事を提供したことがある。9月21日から 28日までの間に弁当を食べた 3歳から6歳までの園児 87人が，発熱，嘔吐などの症状を訴えたことを市当局者が明らかにしたと報じられている。サルモネラ菌 _Salmonella_ は，入院した 10人を含む多数の園児から検出されているが，生命に関わる状態の園児はいない。汚染された弁当を提供した，岡崎市のTokiwa Shyokuhin foods は，名古屋，蒲郡，日新の各市の幼稚園にも弁当を提供している。同社は営業を停止している。2016年4月にも，71人が食中毒を発症した食事を提供したとされている。
