5月9日，ギニア保健地方当局 the Prefectural Health Directorate of Koubia, Guinea に，炭疽感染が疑われる患者 suspected anthrax cases 4名の the Prefectural Hospital located in Labé region in the northern part of the country 病院への入院の通報がなされた。このうち 3人に，皮膚炭疽に特徴的な皮膚病変 (顔面，手，頭部，頚部などの，周囲に腫脹を伴った黒色痂皮 black crusts) の症状が見られた。4例目の 2歳男児は，皮膚病変のあった 3人の患者のうちの 1人の息子で，発熱，疲労，体性痛のため入院した。4人はいずれも the same family in the same community で，4月28日に処分された病気のヤギ 1頭の肉を食べ 5-12日後に発症したと報告している。半分の肉は 9 km 離れた隣村に送られたが，今のところ患者は報告されていない。皮膚病変から検体が採取され，Conakry National Institute of Public Health での検査 reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) で，1人の患者の検体が炭疽と確定診断された。後ろ向き調査で，5月2日に同じ家族で 4月28日にこのヤギ肉を食べていた 13歳の少年が腹痛，膨満，体性痛，頭痛，発熱などの，腸炭疽 gastrointestinal anthrax の症状を発症し，5月5日に死亡していたことが分かった。検体は採取されていない ...

2016年に黄熱とそのワクチンに予期せぬ 2 unprecedented events が起きた。
1つめは中国で，2016年3-4月にアンゴラでの労務中に 11人が黄熱に感染していたことが分かった。中国国内での感染伝播は生じなかった。アジアではこれまでに黄熱の感染が確定診断されたことはなかった。
2つめは世界的な黄熱ワクチン不足の結果，2016年8月にコンゴ(民)のキンシャサ Kinshasa で，750万人への接種を行う際に，これまで行われたことがない分割接種 the 1st-ever use of a fractional (1/5th) normal dose of yellow fever vaccine が行われることになった

中国のほかにも，黄熱ウイルスとデング熱ウイルスの蚊族ベクターであるネッタイシマカ the _Aedes aegypti_ vector が存在する，インド，パキスタン，タイ，インドネシア，その他のアジアの国々で，黄熱流行が起こりうるリスクを示唆する報告が相次いだ。また，2016年にキンシャサで行われたワクチンの分割接種は，その後すぐにまた，アフリカやラテンアメリカ，アジアなどでアウトブレイクが起きれば，同じようにフルドースでの接種のためのワクチンが不足することを意味している ... ブラジルは 2018年の年間を通じ，また 2019年に入った後も，a YF vaccine shortage によって分割接種 use of the fractional (1/5th) dose を行わざるを得ず，少なくとも 2100万人がこの影響を受けている。このためブラジルは，かつて 2016年にアンゴラやコンゴ(民)に行ったワクチンの輸出が，もはやできない状態となった。注目すべき点として，これまで分割接種 fractional dosing に使われたのは，ブラジル製ワクチンだけ only the Brazilian だった。ブラジル以外の，たとえば，sub-Saharan Africa では 2018年もフルドースのワクチンが使用されている。
