From 25 Mar to 27 Apr 2019 の期間に，19例の大腸菌感染症例 suspected Shiga toxin-producing _Escherichia coli_ (STEC) [also called enterohemorrhagic _E coli or EHEC] が確認され，小児の溶血性尿毒症症候群 associated pediatric haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS) cases が発生したことが，French hospital paediatric departments から Sante publique France に報告された。近年のこの時期に報告された症例数は 5-10 cases であった。13 cases について serogroup O26 感染であることが確定診断され，strain comparison のため遺伝子解析 whole genome sequencing (WGS) が行われている。質問による疫学調査により，8 of these 13 cases の共通する関連項目として，the consumption of raw cow's milk soft cheeses (Saint-Felicien and Saint-Marcellin) が特定されている。スーパーのカード supermarket loyalty cards を使った追跡調査では，3例の症例のチーズに共通する製造者が特定され，French health が4月29日に回収を開始した。
