clinical reports によると，今回のスウェーデンのアウトブレイクの患者の a majority (over 70%) が，昆虫，特に蚊族の刺咬 insect bites による感染とされている。約 1/4 of the disease cases については感染経路は示されていないが，残りの症例の中では，動物との接触が主である以外に，飲水による感染例も記載されている。

In July 2019, during an official survey, ToLCNDV was detected in one plant of _Cucurbita pepo_ (cv. Brilhante) in a greenhouse located in the Algarve region [Faro district].
